Sanguine (chalk) drawing measures 21′” by 9.5.”  Presented in its contemporary frame, with a new matte, this measures 31.5″ by 19.”

The original marble sculpture, which is in Florence on the Piazza della Signoria, was masterfully carved from one piece of stone in the years 1579-1583.

Giambologna, also called Giovanni da Bologna, or Jean Boulogne, was born in 1529 and was a pre-eminent Mannerist sculptor in Italy during the last quarter of the 16th century.
