Product Description

Villanis was born in Lille, France to Italian parents. He was honored with numerous exhibits at the Paris Salons (1886 -1914), and received honorable mention at the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1889. Considered to be one of the most prolific sculptors of the late Victorian, early Art Nouveau periods, his subjects are almost exclusively females. With their characteristic deep set eyes and near perfect facial features, a Villanis bronze is often identified by the embossed title of the piece which is cast upon its base.
